I maintain that this space on the web - nay, MY space on the web - is not a blog.- This space uses no common blog software.
- This space has no common design templates.
- This space is not updated frequently.
- This space is mostly filled by me, the owner, rarely by visitors.
- This space is not a journal.
- This space is missing some of the common features and functions that would normally be packaged with a blogging software.
Wikipedia contains a community-constructed definition of "blogs" that starts out like this:
"A blog is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order."
Furthermore, Wikipedia confirms with the following:
"A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs...and are part of a wider network of social media."
While this site does indeed contain text and images, I rarely link to other blogs. It does not have a blogroll, nor is it connected to a wider network of social media (I wish!). Rather, I sit alone in the web world, waiting for readers, imagining that if they were here, they would probably just snicker and giggle and point anyway.
However, you will find that my site does point to other cool stuff on the web, it does contain brief articles and opinions that I have composed for the enjoyment of the odd passerby (usually my wife, after I say, "Hunny, look what I did!").
And, I do have RSS and Atom feeds.
So if that makes this a blog, then so be it. But if you must call it so, please don't compare it to others. That;s just trouble waiting to happen.
